About this role

Join Scalable Capital’s Client Technology tribe and apply your software engineering skills to building quality into our products. Reporting directly to the VP of Engineering, you’ll work across multiple teams to shape our QA strategy and build the automation and tooling that make releases more reliable. This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about automation, solving testing challenges, and helping engineering teams deliver with confidence:

  • Build and evolve automated regression testing for our mobile applications and backend services, complemented by focused web end-to-end tests for critical customer journeys.

  • Develop reusable testing frameworks, simulation tools, and test-data capabilities that help teams validate complex workflows efficiently.

  • Integrate automated checks into CI/CD pipelines, improving test reliability, failure diagnostics, and feedback speed.

  • Collaborate with engineers and product managers to make systems testable, define clear acceptance criteria, and prioritize coverage based on customer impact and risk.

  • Shape and deliver the tribe’s QA automation roadmap, collaborating with QA peers and sharing reusable solutions and engineering practices across teams.

  • Help engineering teams strengthen their ownership of quality, using defects and production insights to improve regression coverage.

  • Complement automation with targeted exploratory testing to uncover risks and unexpected behavior.

  • Evaluate and use AI-assisted tools for test development, maintenance, and failure investigation, critically reviewing their output for correctness and meaningful coverage.

  • Strong software engineering and debugging skills, with experience building maintainable test frameworks, libraries, or internal tooling.

  • Proven experience owning and improving test automation, from choosing an approach to making it reliable and useful for engineering teams.

  • Strong backend and API testing experience, including validating data, integrations, and asynchronous workflows.

  • Practical experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD, diagnosing failures, and reducing flaky tests.

  • Sound testing judgment: you can identify important risks, choose the appropriate testing level, and balance coverage, execution speed, and maintenance effort.

  • Clear communication and the ability to influence technical decisions and drive improvements across engineering and product teams.

  • Experience with mobile test automation is particularly welcome. Web UI automation and experience in financial services are additional advantages.
